Sun/Heat Notice

Asalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barikatuhu,

Dear parents and carers,

We pray this newsletter finds you in good health.

Sun/Heat notice:

The weather will be very warm this week. Please ensure your child comes to school with a full water bottle, which they can refill throughout the day.

Please ensure that your child does not wear a jumper/cardigan or blazer this week. If you have a sun hat we request that you send your children to school wearing it. We would like to inform you that staff are unable to apply sun creams to your children. We advise that you buy a variety of sun creams that can be applied once per day and that you apply the cream before school each morning.

Protecting children outdoors:

During periods of high temperature, the following steps should be taken:

  • children should not take part in vigorous physical activity on very hot days, such as when temperatures are more than 30°C therefore PE sessions will be postponed for this week.

  • encourage children playing outdoors to stay in the shade as much as possible.

Things to do:

  • Children to not wear jumpers, cardigans or blazers to school.

  • Children can bring into school sunhats with wide brims to avoid sunburn during outdoor play.

  • Use sunscreen (with UVA protection) to protect skin if children are playing or taking lessons outdoors for more than 20 minutes.

  • Provide children with bottled water, they will be encouraged to drink more than usual when conditions are hot to avoid dehydration. Water can be refilled in school.

Thank you for your continued support.
